The Remnant has to be Refined

A remnant is described as a small group of people who remain faithful to God, despite widespread unbelief or faithlessness around them (Dictionary of Bible Themes: 7145 remnant)
The remnant concept is significant all throughout the Bible starting with Noah and his family in Genesis 7 to those who survived the fall of Jerusalem and returned after the exile. Where despite widespread unfaithfulness, God preserved a remnant to fulfill His covenant promises.
To make a long and unfortunately repetitive story short; the people of God could not stay FAITHFUL nor FOCUSED and continued to find themselves placing other gods as Lord over their lives over and over again (idolatry)
Idolatry, in biblical terms, refers to the worship of idols or the elevation of anything or anyone to a status that rivals or replaces the worship of the one true God. The prophets constantly warned against idolatry and the judgement and separation from God it brings.
In the New Testament, idolatry surpasses worship of physical idols to include ANY form of covetousness (excessive desire for something) and/or over misplaced devotion..
You’re called to be the remnant. Yet, you don’t want to go through anything?
“And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.”Zechariah 13:9 KJV
Just in case you were wondering. The refining is necessary to remove impurities and unwanted matter from a substance. Malachi 3:2 describes God as a refiner’s fire and even asks us if we can truly handle when he comes to clean us up?😮💨
Malachi 3:2-3 But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap. 3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord. ESV
The remnant has to be refined:
As the remnant, I truly believe God is still cleaning us up. After all, Judgement begins with the house of God (1Peter 4:17).. And yes I know, we will be a work in progress until Jesus returns. However, there are some " any such things "the Lord is working out of us (Colossians 3:8).
There is Hope:
“On that day you will no longer need to be ashamed, for you will no longer be rebels against me. I will remove all proud and arrogant people from among you. There will be no more haughtiness on my holy mountain. Those who are left will be the lowly and humble, for it is they who trust in the name of the Lord. The remnant of Israel will do no wrong; they will never tell lies or deceive one another. They will eat and sleep in safety, and no one will make them afraid. ”Zephaniah 3:11-13 NLT
So what's next?
If you’re still wondering what needs to be cleaned up out of us? It’s the idolatry, the sin and the disobedience. It’s the lack of focus—the worldliness and everything and anything else we have placed BEFORE the one TRUE and living God…
“Yet behold, there shall be left in it a remnant who will be brought out, both sons and daughters; surely they will come out to you, and you will see their ways and their doings. Then you will be comforted concerning the disaster that I have brought upon Jerusalem, all that I have brought upon it. ”Ezekiel 14:22 NKJV
I want to encourage you to seek the father’s face like never before and ASK the father to show you anything that’s not like him. As you do this, ask the Lord to help your heart be open to receive anything he may show you. Remnant, ALLOW God to take you through the fire and watch as you come out as PURE GOLD...
Until next time,
Monica
